JamHub for rehearsals: I got tired of the volume war at band practice and thought, “Hey, let’s practice with headphones instead”.  Seemed like a reasonable idea.  So, about a year ago I dropped a decent amount of cash to buy the JamHub.  It was designed specifically for my issue.  Sadly, it hasn’t been used even once at any of our rehearsals.  Why?  It’s not that it’s a bad product.  It’s just that by the time every band member has traveled to the rehearsal spot, hauled their gear into the space, and set up their equipment no one wants to spend another five to ten minutes adjusting the settings of their headphone mix.  I suppose the JamHub would be a worthwhile product if you planned on practicing in the same space every time but that’s not the case with my band.  Plus, the JamHub is better designed to be used with electronic drum kits, not a live kit like my drummer uses.  Photo source: soundonsound.com

Music Garage: Stopped in at the Music Garage today.  Chris who runs the place has a good approach to marketing his studio services.  He rents out rehearsal rooms to a variety of bands, but on your way to your practice space you pass by his professional studio.  So the thought of recording your music is always nearby.  Music Garage
